realisation tt i'm gonna get confined a small island soon is starting to hit me... haha, constant reminder from pple around doesn't help, but i know they dun mean it. guess it'll be hard for them too huh? sighs...

i guess everyone is just scared tt we wun be able to see each other in a long long time... a definite possibly since there r only tt many free days... just hope we'll all be able to stay in touch somehow...

anyway, these past few days have been great... was at nick's chalet... am too lazy to elaborate much... but, I'll miss all of u... :'( nick, zp, val, sel, daryl, dorinda, cynthia, dax, greg, wilmur (lol!!), jonas and everyone else too... i hope i get a chance to do this again...

really like this photo, we look so happy. thnx for the great time always... :) you guys are one of the bestest friends ever... :P

and then u realise all this is so miniscule compared to the things happening around in the world. the death toll is close to 100 k now... :/ sighs. its really sad tt a warning system is not in place in the indian ocean, when such a warning system has been in place in the pacific ocean 40 years ago. am glad japan is willing to lend her expertise to help set up such a system in the indian ocean. maybe such a disaster could be avoided again. its really very sad that so many people suddenly are just wiped out. its incomprehensible in fact. its just so hard to imagine. i can't bear to look at the pictures... its quite depressing. bah.

alrite, so after going to these few places, I can say Singapore is really the best for shopping. Orchard Road is fab. the whole design is great cuz its so many many shops squeezed into a small area, so minimal walking distance, and maximum aircon! ;) its like such shopping malls dun exist in europe, and u have to walk in and out of shops in wet weather if its raining... ah ha! tt's the beauty of Orchard... and we can find basically most of the stuff here in singapore too...

Singapore is really a beautiful city, yeah, but not a beautiful country u see... it doesn't have natural scenery like most countries have, cuz we are just but a city. But i feel, as a city, we're doing v well... so i'm quite proud of our design and all... :)

I guess I'm overall, rather happy w singapore... if we were just a little more open and less mechnical and kiasu plus more polite in general, and the place weren't so overpopulated, i'd love this place even more... :) haha... the cheap cost of living is such a relief... ;)

am kinda glad to have left switzerland for france... the weather here is far more agreeable. less cold and windy, and somehow, it feels good to see green rolling valleys as opposed to barren snow fields... ;) anyway, last nite was spent in lausanne, capitale de olymique! woo, finally entered the french speaking cantons of switzerland... ah sighs, french is such a beautiful language, can here it rolling off the tongues... i wish i had learnt it all four years... now i can do is speak rubbish... well, at least today at the shop, i managed to tell her what i wanted in french. dun laugh, i just told her 3 small eiffel towers. and off course, merci beaucoup and bonjour etc. sadness. i'm determined to learn the language again, hopefully in uni, or maybe during boring NS days? ;) haha... i'll see...

anyway, the next day, we went to visit the olympic musuem... lausanne is actually where everyone assembles to vote for the host city for the olympics every 2 years... the place was less grand than i expected... haha. well, i would've expected something so impt to be v v grand... but well, it was quite simple. hmmm, curious. after that, we left for geneva! beautiful beautiful city... :) wonder architecture, ancient cathedrals, and a nice lake! haha, and french speaking too! :) love it! and went to see the red cross head quarters... interesting story behind it. apparently this rich guy in geneva founded it, and spent so much money on helping pple until he went bankrupt... and so of course head quarters in geneva. oops, forgot tt guy's name... :/ visited the reformation monument (marks the rise of protestants against the catholic church cuz the catholic church was too extravagent and corrupt), and the UN Humanitarian head quarters... again, not grand? :( haha... oh wells, visited many other places, but am lazy to list every thing down... and my guide so can't pronounce anything french... :P

hope paris is as beautiful as i imagined... its always been my dream to visit paris since young... hope it turns out just as i imagine... :) hope i wish i were french... the pple here are so elegant and good looking and the language, the buildings... and yes, their one of the few races tt have food tt can even come close to chinese food... so far nothing even comes close to chinese or french cuisine! yumm... :)

currently in a hotel in paris... just had a nice long bubble bath... :) day's been quite gd, except for certain pple who keep bugging me even though i'm overseas. should've just switched off my phone. bah. anyway, left burgundy in the morning and headed to paris! on the way, we toured the versailles palace... wow, its a fine piece of work man. so so grand, with its beautiful painted roofs, the ornaments made of gold, grand flooring, crystal chandeliers, high walls, lush gardens (with patterns) and the endless lakes. it stunning really... :) no wonder there was the french revolution to overthrow the king... he lived in such luxury! :/ and i'm sure yh, yuan and moby will remember marie antionette and "eat cake".. lol! ;)

okie... then we went into the city for shopping first... the city is so beautiful, just as i had imagined. its really like great older architecture intergrated into modern buildings... the high rise buildings are else where... and the lighting and all, it just enhances the beauty of the whole place... tres beau! :) its xmas season, and pple are shopping everywhere, so it was so crowded... :( haha, really, there are police to control shopping crowds... haha! went round the place to buy stuff, thankfully stuff here is slightly less ex than in switzerland... ;) went to galerie lafayette, and boy is it large! its got 3 buildings, each five storeys huge, and v large... think its even larger than ngee ann city in area... impressive! have to plan tmr's journey later cuz its free day...
after walking round, we boarded the bus to transport us to a cruise. shit, the traffic so bad. we were stuck in this 50m stretch of road for like 15min... haha! but we made it to the cruise on river seine... its so gorgeous at nite! all the monuments like the eiffel tower, the notre dame and the mini statue of liberity (real one), and all the museums and what not are so nice at nite... illuminated greatly! and of course, its so different what u're seeing it on a river... :) it was v v cold though, with the stupid wind blowing everywhere. the pictures aren't v nice cuz the boat's travelling too fast to take many nice pix... :( oh well, come see it for yrself next time... :)

last nite in paris... :( oh, i'm so in love with paris... haha, think this will be one of the highlights of my journey... dun think i'd like london as much... ;) paris has a huge circle in its center, where the arc de triumphe is... then, there are 12 spokes radiating from it. the circle is really really huge, so it can fit practically 5 or 6 cars in terms of width quite comfortably. then there are different avenues in the city, up to a total of 20 if i remember correctly. and of course avenue 1 is closest to the center... prices are so steep in any of the avenues... average rental of 3000 euros for a 2 room apartment... and i u wanna buy, its 2000 euro per square meter. or, SGD4400... haha. and these are like 100 year old apartments... and pple complain property prices in singapore are high... :/ okie, we took a tour of the city, its quite interesting cuz the older buildings are really well preserved... so basically for many km, all the buildings are not higher than 6 storeys, all of the same height unless its something special, like a chateau or whatever. the sidewalks are super spacious and all, so its quite nice... :) went up the tour eiffel, and the structure is really quite interesting. took pix from interesting angles, so u can check them out... :P oh, and the wonder thing is cuz everything is not more than 6 storeys high, when u do go up the tower, u get to unobstructed view for like as far as u can see... tres bonne! also saw notre dame, its such an amazing piece of work, taking 200 years to finish. i wish i got down there to see, but sighs, spent too long in the louvre, and it was getting quite late, so i didn't go in the end... :( took some pix as we passed by in the coach though...

after lunch, went to the louvre musuem... its also quite a huge building, former palace... wow, it really has dunno how many km of exhibits. u got literally take days if u wanna stop and look at every piece of art for just 1 min... so i just went to see a few select pieces, like Mona Lisa (duh), venus di milo, napolean's self coronation, and some other stuff... its quite an amazing collection i must say... mona lisa is quite small a painting really... haha. and i'm really surprised at how open the whole museum is, its like all these world famous paintings and sculptures hardly have any guards... and even the venus di milo can be touched?!! :/ gosh... will be such a tragedy if any gets damaged somehow... anyway, i seem to be a terrible target by all these stupid pple selling souvenirs. wth, like at the eiffel tower, had like 2 or 3 pple tailing me, and there were so many other pple on e same tour as me not attended to?! and i repeatedly said no, and someone even got angry at me for not buying? like, go ask someone else can? lol. then at the louvre, had like 3 different pple ask me to have my caricacture drawn. one said i've interesting hair (lol), so he wanted to draw me. another one said i've funny shoes (err, wrong approach)... lol, and the last one said i'd make a nice model for him, and gave me half price, and said he would draw n if i didn't like it wun have to buy it...! :) i was so tempted, but well, it was v cold n still q ex, and i had no wish to stand there waiting... ;)

after the louvre, took a looooong walk down to champs elysees... wah it was a v long walk. bah. cuz of tt, couldn't go notre dame. well well, champs elysees wasn't as amazing as i expected... its just like orchard road, with a larger crowd and sidewalks 2-3 times as large, shops all quite ex and v v huge... haha! and of course, no shopping centers, there aren't any in paris i think... but seriously, i feel tt after visiting singapore, orchard has the potential to be one of the best shopping hubs in the world, if we expand the sidewalks somehow, enlarge shops and have more branded stuff around. just need to make it more classy, cuz the shopping space is there liao, and in fact its v gd cuz its all so concentrated... just need to make it more up class. hehe, will be waiting for tt to happen... :)

oh, took metro today! manage to navigate my family round, so happy! :) there are like 20 lines lor... and well, stations not as nice as SG... but gd thing is its all underground, so it saves lotsa space, and is well concealed. AND the trains arrive like every min or less, so its damn fast... and the trains move faster than in SG... v efficient system. not v safe and as comfortable, but v efficient and somewhat less crowded cuz of how fast trains come... :)

hmmm, lack of cheap internet connection is no fun... :( bah. well, 2 more days n i'll get some net access huh? :) anyway, in london now... apparently everyone is so much happier than in Paris, cuz they feel more welcomeed here... partly cuz of the fact tt everything's in english, and tt e pple r less snobbish abt their language... ;)

oh wells, the stupid pound is so strong, 3.4:1 is just... :/ haha... it used to be 2.8 last time... :( had a sucky flight here... the stupid terminal at Paris caught fire and we were trapped in the boarding lounge for 2 hours! bah. so retarded... :( the 2 hour delay was so boring, cuz the lounge had nothing... :( changi airport is really world class i can tell u... its so so good... :)

so far my impression london... hmmm, bad traffic. the roads are too narrow, and there are too many cars. the air is so polluted, and well, it isn't as cultural as paris, where so many many buildings have been preserved... but it seems the stuff are more affordable, there are less upmarket stuff, unlike in paris where everything is exhorbitant. haha. i actually managed to buy clothes! ;) haha... there are so many plays and musical going on though, i'm having a hard time trying to decide what to watch tmr... but it'll probably be les miserable, chicago or phantom of the opera... hehe. can't wait! its been quite long since i watched a musical or play of any sort...
think i'm going to have such an exhausting time when i reach singapore... maybe i dun wanna go back so early anymore. quite contrary to how i've been feeling the few days before...
PS: the british are no where as gd looking as the french... lol! they're plumper, and their features aren't as gd. the french are really a beautiful race... deep set eyes, long lashes, nice high noses... the girls all have such good hair and skin, and the guys have nice jaws... hehe. should migrate here... ;)

london is boring... its so lousy compared to paris. river thames is brown, while river seine is clear. the air here stinks! lol, the trains take much longer to come than in paris and they travel sooo much slower, and the roads are so freaking narrow... :/ bah. haha... oh, but the number of musicals n shows tt run here is phenomenal! i could practically catch anything i'd ever wanted to watch... in the end, i ended up watching chicago! boy was it good... so sensual and funny! lol... after watching the play, i feel the movie was a v gd adaptation... :)

going home soon... sighs... wonder what awaits me back at home... :(

dun be expecting gifts from europe... the things here are so ex... macs today was... hurhur. ex! i dunno how else to describe it. like a big mac meal there costs 10.9CH, which is abt SGD15?! haha... so a meal at macs could get u quite a bit at marche back in singapore for example... looks like anyone who intends to retire here or migrate here had better reconsider. u'd be darn poor if u ever come here... but seriously, its a really nice place to retire if u've the money...

hmmm, today was not a good day... was supposed to see the Matterhorn peak, but well, the weather sucked and it was too cloudy so we hardly got to see much. nothing much more to say since we were travelling for a large portion of the time... haha. nice scenery? lol. well, the weather sucks now. leaving for france tmr... where things just get more ex. the euro is just too strong gosh! its like an optional show is Euro 125... tt is SGD270? lol... madness... i'm annoyed at the high cost of living here. grrr.

today's (15/12/2004) generally been quite nice... :) we did quite a bit of sight seeing..! yeah, i really love the scenery here... we went up mount titlis, 3050m in height... wow, the view is spectacular... when u see the pictures, u'll understand... :) the white snow, the bright sun and the clear air, something i've never quite seen before. the air was so crisp and fresh, absolutely unpolluted... wow! hur, and there were many beautiful and crystal clear lakes where u could see the reflection of the mountains in them. i wish singapore had anything close to tt... hee... i'm slowly beginning to enjoy this as much as i think i would if i were on an island paradise with soft sands and blue scintillating seas.. :) haha!

i'm so in love with everything swiss right now... if not for the fact i miss pple back home, i might just stay here... ;) haha. the toilets here are so clean, the streets everything. the pple here are really well bred and v considerate, which explains the cleaniness since i see less cleaners around than in singapore... hmmm, the people are so absolutely polite too... v helpful and courteous... i feel so well received! haha... the car drivers would stop from a distance for pedestrians, and the service in restaurants is excellent! like today, some pple couldn't take spicy food, the restaurant owner just gave them a few extra dishes and when the pple offered to pay, the owner just said there was no need. wow... haha! and the pple here are much less racist than most caucasian nations, like australian for example. haha, as in they are v willing to interact with u... lol! today in this cable car, this swiss couple asked why i was speaking english to my tour guide... and asked if my tour guide didn't speak japanese... i was like... haha, do i look v jap?! i always get mistaken for being jap or korean... :/ hehe... well, that means i'm not the typical yellow skinned, slit eyed chinese... ;) it was v amusing and they were really friendly. not sure if they know where singapore is though... lol!

we took cable cars up the mountain... changing 3 different types of cable cars. first is the normal kind we're accustomed to... then, a huge one tt can fit sooo many pple! then finally, this circular cable in which the inside rotates so tt we get to get all parts of the mountains as we ascend. sometimes when i'm in malaysia or china taking cable cars, i feel so unsafe... but here though we're going up so high, there was never a moment of fear cuz these cars and cables are al swiss made! :) seriously, they're so safe and well maintained tt u never feel scared. they are so technology advanced. i was wondering why their highways had no snow on them though it snowed earlier... and the guide said tt they had hot water in pipes under them to melt the snow so there was no need to clear snow. quite smart! :) haha, i could just go on and on... but well, i guess not. to put it simply, i'm impressed w the pple and everything else here... other than my freezing toes... ;)

PS: thnx everyone who's been msging me... u've been great, making my day knowing tt u guys miss me... ;) sorry i can't reply to each an everyone of yr msges... its ex k... n dun worry la, yr msges do not cost more than ordinary when u msg me... ;) take care! :)

PPS: i've mailed the postcards to those who smsed yr addresses... hope u do get them... dunno if my handwriting is clear, i was freezing when i wrote them... :/

sighs, i hope i've internet connection at the hotel i'm going to tmr. it'd absolutely suck if i'm still stuck like this. replying to smses is costly... but i wanna use sms. the irony. its really hard to adapt from my usual patterns of msging. bah.

anyway, it was miserably cold today... my toes are dying. i think my jacket is superb... it looks real nice, and is v snug and warm. i love it! :) hee.. the pocket with nice zips are really convenient for me to dump my camera, phones and what nots in it without worrying... yay. :)
by the way, these 2 nites i've been at interlaken... today went up another mountain... jung frau joch. its really high, and we went there by rail... :) the view was spectacular, but slowly its becoming less amazing cuz it seems there's not shortage of beautiful scenery in europe... :) hmmm, we didn't get to ski or go on the sleight rides today cuz the snow was too thick... not tt i was particularly keen since it was -11C and winds were 44km/h strong.. :/

not feeling too well now, have not been sleeping well. now i'm producing really thick mucus which is blood red. hmmm... wonder what tt means. hope i dun fall ill... :/
the stuff here is really expensive. i'm sorry if i'm unable to buy presents for u guys... but a meal here is like $200+?! haha... a lamb chop is abt 35CH, which is abt SGD50. haha. gifts are equally ex... :/ i guess it'd be even worse in france, and even worse in england. bah... the other families i'm touring w must be freaking rich... they other so much! and buy so much... hurhur. or maybe they've just been saving lotsa money... ;)

*crosses fingers* hope i get internet tmr... this is miserable. ha.

hey guys... somehow managed to tap of the wireless internet connection from *somewhere*... its not v strong however, but i guess i'll just have to make do... its really frustrating though cuz it keeps disconnecting... :/

k, shall start of with the flight... haha. as usual, the flight sucked for me... well, it always does... :/ bah. there were a ton of movies i wanted to catch... Bourne Identidy, Manchurian Candidate and Princess Diaries 2 were just some... but yeah, of course i had to feel airsick as usual... sighs. it makes my flights so miserable cuz i just feel like puking all the time... :( anyway, so what happened was that i had supper on the plane, and smartly decided not to have breakfast... cuz shortly after when i was supposed to have breakfast, my stomach became highly upset and attempted to puke... hurhur, too bad, i outsmarted my stomach and there was nothing to puke out... so i didn't make a mess... :P

after landing, wow, i must say i wasn't too smart with my choice of socks... ;) i chose adidas clima cool socks... and yes, so my toes had it the rest of the day. was freaking numb and painful... poor them... :( well, the day has been quite ok... nothing terribly exciting, except maybe the cold and the horrendous price of everything here... ;) haha. oh, but it snowed! :D so tt was cool... can't believe the tour arranged for chinese food for lunch... ermm... we are in an european country? y r we not trying their cuisine? so annoying. and seriously, the food here is so ex, i ate a piece of desert, v yummy, but it cost 9.50CH?! :( tt's like close to SGD$15... i could get half a cake back in singapore... the scenery here is v nice, and the pace of life is pretty slow... :) really nice place to migrate to if u're thinking of doing so... people are quite friendly, and there's quite a bit of asians here... and it snows! :D haha!

visited bern and lucerne today... both are rather small towns, but the cost of living is still tremendous in these areas... :/ hmmm, get to go on the mountains tmr... bet its gonna be freezing, but well, nice view huh? :)

the past week has been v v enjoyable... :) I wish i could have many more such days in my life... :) And meanwhile, I'll cherish every moment of it... and everyone in it too... ;)

grad nite and preparations were quite fun... was really lazy and didn't wanna look for a shirt, so i just bought whatever had caught my eye a few days before rather than what i had in mind... well, it looked fine i guess... sunday! haha, checked into the hotel quite late (but its quite early cuz i would've gone later had i not be rushed... :P)... so i was there watching the girls getting their makeup done, helping wk w his hair, just talking nonsense and slacking around... :P hee!! then of course, everyone got to change... and we were, fashionably late... just like everyone else! lol... we thot we were gonna be quite late, and surprise, when we took the lift down, many many pple stepped out of the lifts... great timing huh? ;)

the nite was quite good save for a few minor blimps in organising... and the fact it was at suntec. well, i guess the great company made up for everything else... :) my face cracked from posing for too many photos, but it was all really great fun...! hmmm, i'm really glad i did go in the end... haha. after a long deliberation after the prom, hs, nick, weili, aaron and i decided to go to MS to club... hee, it was quite fun! haha, my drink got stolen though... lol. it interesting to see how different pple would let loose in the club... it was really an eye opener. it was really quite fun, and i would like to go again should i have the time... but its a costly affair cuz cab's the only way home. haha...

monday... did some shopping after waking up so late, played tennis. nvm abt tennis... was crappy. haha. tuesday... haha, great day...! went to watch sch for seduction among other things i shall keep private... ;) the movie was quite silly... but well, a little funny too... :P wed... yuan's farewell... so sad, he's going into NS tmr... hur, i've tried my best to help him out, helping him find out stuff he needs to know. hope it has helped... he seemed kinda depressed abt it, hope the red packet my mum gave him helped? ;) we played tennis, cards, blah blah... and was actually gonna either go pubbing w yh n co, or club w hs n co... but was tired, and decided to go do up a bit more uni app stuff... so i went home... haha, see, i'm a gd boy... ;) and yh was so sweet, made a really nice shirt for each of us... shall post pix of it and dissect all the special features of the shirt in the next entry... ;)

today... went to k box. *gasp*. and i actually sang... lol! had quite a lot of fun w kat n gary... hurhur, they were such great company! :) sang till my voice went hoarse... and went bowling after tt... and got 2 turkeys in tt game... :) hee, got a high score of 160... v amazing considering i scored 29 in the first 4 frames only... haha! think i can bowl better when i'm relaxed... ;) after tt, we just went round parkway cuz the silly pool place was crowded... :/ hmmmm, but what a fun day filled w so much laughs! ha! :)

oohh... it feels so nice to have a quiet day to myself, where i can blog in peace... :) guess we all need days like these to recharge our batteries huh? ;) been too lazy n busy to blog... bleah...

sighs it seems like just yesterday when i was playing my Sims 2 game, getting promoted to a business tycoon so i go to work in a helicopter, but actually it was last fri... time really passes too fast, and tt's counting the fact tt i hardly slept much these few days... it sucks tt i wun even have much time to spend w everyone now b4 i'm gone... :( so on 2nd thots, i shall have less lazy and quiet days these hols... ;)

see the reason i've not been getting sleep is due to chalet's and stayovers... haha, nick came over on monday for a stay over... played Halo 2 to the wee hours (like 5++) of the morning, then i hooked up my laptop to the tv and played Sims 2 and Warcraft on it, it was so uber cool! hurhur, esp when u can just lounge on the couch and look at the tv, instead of squinting at the little screen now... ;)

then had an interesting sleep tennis session... lol! it was like moby, yuan and yh were at my house already, but i was still lazing in bed refusing to get up... lol! but sleep tennis sucked! i really couldn't play in tt state, hitting everything everywhere... lol! then after tt session, me n yh went for a dye job... well, i really didn't know what to expect... i wanted to streak my hair this rather light color, but then, the hairdresser told me, i'd have to sit there for hours, getting my hair bleached 2 rounds, then dying it... so of course i didn't agree cuz i decided it'd make me bankrupt... ;) so i just stuck to usual and more boring colors... well, it turned out quite nice though its not the color i wanted... too bad its kinda a waste of money cuz it'd be shaved of soon... hur... yh had his done too, it was amusing seeing how stressed he was abt it, cuz he just couldn't get used to the fact tt his hair was lighter... LOL!

then tried to go look for a shirt w nick n zp... i really didn't know y i went w them to town... was sooo tired, and not in the mood to look. so yeah, in the end, i really didn't look much... wasted time... :P haha! then, upon much reminders tt i was supposed to go to the chalet w the xbox and stuff, i rushed down to the class chalet. wah, it was so ulu, and dark, i was afraid of getting lost. well, i did... *embarrassed* almost went into the wrong chalet, and there were these pple just sitting there looking at me... :/ ha...

most of the time, i think i was too lazy and not helping out much... i feel so bad now... :/ but anyways, we did have quite a lot of fun playing cards and all... :D its interesting for me how i always win quite easily, or lose so badly... its too extreme... haha! mr chan and his wife joined us for cards too... they're kinda a cute couple... the wife loves to sa jiao to him in front of us, but some pple seemed quite put off by it... lol!

well, anyway, had an interesting experience where the guys plus mich tried to go lanning at like 11+? lol... we went high and low looking for a lan shop, and it was quite silly... but well, we did manage to find 1 at katong shopping center, but it apparently had no aircon, so it was freaking stuffy... :/ quite terrible... so anyway, it was quite fun playng late hours in the night, new experience! ;)

so i slept from 7-4 today... stupidly set my alarm for 12am instead of 12pm... so half my day's gone... sighs. shall sleep less so i've more time to spend from now on... :P
